Target Audience

This activity is designed specifically for dermatologists, dermato-oncologists, medical oncologists, Mohs surgeons, radiation oncologists, and head and neck surgeons involved in the multidisciplinary management of patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

Program Overview

Neoadjuvant immunotherapy is an emerging approach in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) that may offer meaningful pathologic responses while introducing new questions about treatment sequencing and the need for subsequent therapy. This online, on-demand CME/CE activity—part of the six-part series Mock Tumor Board: Advancing Multidisciplinary Decision-Making in Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma—presents an interactive mock tumor board case of a patient with recurrent, high-risk cSCC involving a large cervical lymph node. Throughout the discussion, expert faculty examine multidisciplinary decision-making around neoadjuvant immunotherapy and surgery, including factors that may influence the number of neoadjuvant treatment cycles and expectations for treatment response. They also discuss the role of pathologic response in guiding postoperative management, the potential for surveillance following a complete pathologic response, and ongoing questions regarding the optimal sequencing and duration of perioperative immunotherapy.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Apply evidence-based criteria and tumor-specific needs to determine selection and sequence of multidisciplinary specialists in the management of cSCC
• Incorporate current evidence and clinical factors to individualize the selection and sequencing of immunotherapy for cSCC in coordination with surgery and radiation, particularly in the perioperative setting
• Discuss risk stratification frameworks to recognize high-risk clinical and pathologic features and guide management approaches for locally advanced, recurrent, nodal, and metastatic cSCC
