This activity is designed specifically for primary care clinicians including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team who care for patients from rural and underserved communities.
Program Overview
HIV remains a major public health challenge in the United States, and people in the Southeast continue to face significant barriers to care. Engaging individuals with HIV in rural and underserved areas requires strategies that reach beyond the clinic and draw on trusted community partners who can reinforce accurate health information and support earlier entry into care. Faith institutions often serve as trusted community hubs, yet are an underused avenue for increasing HIV education, awareness, and linkage to care and in reducing stigma. However, clinicians and faith leaders may face barriers to forming practical partnerships. In this activity, expert faculty will discuss strategies for building these partnerships and for implementing and expanding evidence-based, community-engaged HIV education. Faculty will also explore how clinicians can collaborate more effectively with faith-based and other community organizations to strengthen HIV prevention and care across the Southeast.
The content for this enduring activity was recorded on October 6, 2026.
