Target Audience 

This activity is designed specifically for oncologists and other health professionals practicing in community settings, including those who serve geographically diverse populations. 

Program Overview 

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a myeloproliferative disease characterized by the progressive accumulation of leukemic cells in the peripheral blood, bone marrow, and lymphoid tissues. Incidence varies by geographic location and race/ethnicity, with higher rates reported among White Americans and in several rural states. Fortunately, advances in our understanding of CLL have led to the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers that can aid treatment decisions, and the availability of novel targeted agents has significantly reshaped guideline recommendations. However, gaps in care remain in community oncology settings. This on-demand CME/CE activity highlights best practices for management of newly diagnosed CLL, including biomarker-driven treatment selection in the first-line setting and optimal use of novel agents. Strategies to address barriers in community-based settings and improve patient-centered, shared decision-making will also be discussed.

• Incorporate guideline-recommended prognostic and predictive biomarkers into risk stratification and frontline treatment selection for patients with CLL 
• Evaluate current and emerging clinical trial data on the safety and efficacy of frontline therapies for CLL 
• Apply current evidence and guideline recommendations to individualize frontline treatment selection in CLL 
• Implement interdisciplinary care strategies to optimize safety and adherence in frontline CLL management
