Target Audience

This activity is designed specifically for oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team who serve patients from rural and underserved communities.

Program Overview

Over the last decade, outcomes for patients with melanoma have markedly improved due to key therapeutic advances including immunotherapy and targeted agents. However, management of advanced disease remains challenging, and rural-urban disparities in melanoma care and disease-related outcomes continue to persist. In this activity, expert faculty will review the latest treatment recommendations for advanced and metastatic melanoma, including evidence-based guidance for initial selection and sequencing of therapy. Strategies to improve early identification and management of adverse events and ways to overcome health disparities in rural and underserved patient populations will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:  

• Apply evidence-based strategies for reducing melanoma care disparities in rural and underserved communities
• Incorporate current guideline recommendations and clinical trial data to personalize treatment of advanced melanoma in patients from rural and underserved areas
• Employ a patient-centered approach for preventing, monitoring, and mitigating adverse events related to treatment for advanced melanoma, considering the unique challenges for rural and underserved settings
