Target Audience
This activity is designed specifically for oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team who serve patients from rural and underserved communities.
Program Overview
The treatment landscape for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still evolving as new clinical data emerge and targeted therapy options continue to expand. Among the latest advances is the emergence of antibody-drug conjugates for patients with HER2-mutant NSCLC. However, management remains challenging in rural and underserved communities where biomarker testing is often underutilized, and patients face barriers such as long travel distances and limited access to oncology specialty care. In this activity, expert faculty will review available therapeutic options for patients with HER2-altered advanced NSCLC and guideline recommendations for genomic testing. Team-based strategies to improve cancer care and manage treatment-related adverse events in rural and underserved settings will also be discussed.
This enduring activity is a recorded session from Oncology Congress that took place on April 13, 2024.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Apply guideline-recommended genomic testing to identify actionable driver mutations, including HER2 activating mutations, and inform treatment decisions in patients with NSCLC
- Integrate the latest clinical evidence on HER2-directed agents into treatment plans for patients with HER2-altered advanced NSCLC
- Employ collaborative strategies for the prevention and management of common and serious treatment-related adverse events in patients with NSCLC receiving HER2-directed agents
