Target Audience
This activity is designed specifically for oncologists and other health professionals practicing in community settings, including those who serve geographically diverse populations.
Program Overview
In recent years, the PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway has emerged as an important player in breast cancer development. Up to 50% of patients with hormone receptor–positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2–negative (HR+/HER2-) breast cancer have actionable biomarkers within this pathway, paving the way for novel approaches to management. In this online, on-demand CME/CE activity, expert faculty will review available and emerging therapies targeting the PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway, including the latest clinical trial data. The program will also highlight strategies for managing treatment-related adverse events and the role of the multidisciplinary team in improving care coordination, treatment adherence, and outcomes for patients in community-based settings.
This enduring activity is a recorded session from Oncology Congress that took place on June 13, 2026.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe the clinical significance of PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway alterations in breast cancer and the mechanisms of action of therapies that target this pathway
- Evaluate the efficacy and safety of therapies targeting the PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway in advanced HR+/HER2- breast cancer
- Integrate evidence-based strategies to identify, monitor, and manage adverse events associated with PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway–targeted therapies in community practice settings
- Apply team-based care strategies within community oncology settings to improve coordination, treatment adherence, and outcomes for patients with breast cancer
