Target Audience

This activity is designed specifically for oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team who serve patients from rural and underserved communities.

Program Overview

Use of antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) has greatly expanded over the last few years due to promising outcomes in various tumor types. Despite their efficacy, ADCs are frequently associated with adverse events that require dosage reductions, therapy interruptions, or discontinuation. In rural and underserved areas, oncologists may not be familiar with appropriate use of ADCs, and patients face unique challenges that further contribute to disparities in care such as limited access to specialists, long travel times, and low enrollment in clinical trials. In this activity, expert faculty will review best practice strategies for screening, monitoring, and mitigating adverse events of ADC therapy to improve tolerability and patient outcomes. Team-based approaches to improve the delivery of comprehensive, supportive care in rural and underserved communities will also be discussed.

This enduring activity is a recorded session from Oncology Congress that took place on December 2, 2023.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Evaluate common adverse events of ADC therapy and the mechanisms contributing to clinical toxicity
  • Apply evidence-based strategies and best practices to identify, monitor, and mitigate adverse events associated with ADC therapy
  • Employ interprofessional strategies for comprehensive, supportive care that meet the complex needs of patients on ADC therapy who reside in rural and underserved areas
